OWNER/FOUNDER

Crystal Smith

MA, CCC-SLP

Crystal Smith is the owner and founder of Moonbug. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Speech, Crystal went on to earn her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at South Carolina State University. She helps better everyone around her through her leadership at Moonbug, her annual participation as a Lexington Kid’s Day partner, her active partnership with Radius Church, and her involvement in the Lake Murray Young Life Committee.

Crystal best describes her passion and purpose for speech therapy saying, “We were created for community, and community isn’t possible without communication. As SLPs, it’s our job to provide those without a voice a way to communicate. This includes the late talker verbalizing ‘momma’ for the first time or a nonverbal child learning to sign ‘I love you.’ Although this is only a snapshot of what we do as SLPs, it shows the beauty of our profession. I can’t think of anything more important than giving someone the opportunity to be a part of what they were ultimately created for, community.”
